Showdown at Sand Valley
by Ken Mitchell
This has been a wonderful first semester at A.N. Myer! It is always difficult to be the new kid on the block but I have felt welcome from the moment I walked into this school. Choosing a script to use with a new team at a new school is a scary task. A director must ask herself many questions: What does she want to accomplish with the production? How much risk does she want to take? What is the culture of the school? How well are the Arts received in the school? And many more. Showdown at Sand Valley is a cute little Canadian comedy which is relatively risk free. It can be seen by almost any audience; it has great opportunity for fun costumes and props and, honestly, who doesn’t love a Western?
